Palermo retro shirts: Rosanero pink
Pink is rare in football, and Palermo have made it their own. This page covers Rosanero shirts from reissues of the early 1990s to the current Puma kits: home, away and third shirts, goalkeeper tops, match issue pieces and training wear.
Sicily in the 2006 World Cup
Palermo returned to Serie A in 2004 and spent most of the next decade there, regularly in the top half. Four of their players, Barzagli, Barone, Grosso and Zaccardo, were in the Italy squad that won the 2006 World Cup. Luca Toni, Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore and Paulo Dybala all wore the pink shirt before moving on.
Lotto, Legea and Puma
ABM reissues of shirts from 1991 to 1996 open the list. Lotto made the kits in the mid-2000s, Legea and Puma followed, and Puma is back as supplier today, with the club now part of the City Football Group. Third shirts are common, so there is plenty to choose from beyond pink. Black, white and the odd darker design all feature.
Match issue shirts
Printed shirts are mostly match issue pieces from Coppa Italia ties and league games. There is a GK shirt from 1998-99, a Brienza away shirt from 2004-05 and recent shirts printed for Henry and Gomis.
Buying a Palermo shirt
Italian match shirts often run small, and match issue tops are cut for the players rather than the stands. The ABM reissues are new shirts made to old designs, which is handy if you want the early-90s look without the wear. Check size and condition on each listing.
