Rangers retro shirts: royal blue classics
Royal blue with white and red trim is one of the most recognisable looks in British football. Here are Rangers shirts from the late 1970s to the present day: home and away, third kits, training tops and goalkeeper shirts.
Royal blue through the decades
The Rangers home shirt has always been about the shade of blue and the trim around it. The 1990s shirts are the heart of the collection, the years of nine league titles in a row, when Paul Gascoigne and Brian Laudrup were the names fans wanted on their backs. Umbro, Diadora, Puma, Hummel and Castore have all left their mark on the kit, each with its own collar, crest treatment and sponsor.
The names fans chose
Barry Ferguson, twice club captain, is the most printed name in the collection. James Tavernier, the captain of the unbeaten 2020-21 league season, follows close behind. Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos carry the goals of the last decade, and you will also find shirts for Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd, Lorenzo Amoruso and a young Mikel Arteta.
Away and third kits
Rangers away shirts have swung from white and red to darker and bolder designs, and the third kits go further still. Together they make up almost half of the collection, which makes them a good place to look for something less common than the blue home shirt.
Condition and sizing
Each shirt is graded on condition and listed with its size, from well-worn terrace shirts to brand new pieces with tags. Player issue shirts are cut slimmer than the replica versions, so size up if you are between two.
