Espanyol were founded in Barcelona on 28 October 1900 by Ángel Rodríguez Ruiz, an engineering student, and were the first Spanish club formed entirely by Spanish players rather than by British or central European residents. The blue and white stripes were adopted in 1910 in homage to the arms of the 13th-century Aragonese admiral Roger de Lluria. Alfonso XIII granted the club the title Real in 1912. The name itself dates a shirt: the club used the Castilian spelling Español until February 1995, when it switched to the Catalan Espanyol while keeping the initials RCD. The RCDE Stadium holds up to 40,000.
The selection runs from 1984 to 2026 and is weighted to the 2010s, which supply 72 of about 117 items, against 16 from the 2000s, 14 from the 1990s, 12 from the 2020s and three from the 1980s. Those three 1980s pieces are also the dearest here, a 1984-89 home shirt reaching 420 pounds against a median of 48. Espanyol won the Copa del Rey four times, most recently in 2006, and reached the UEFA Cup final in 1988 and 2007.
