Bolton Wanderers retro shirts: the Trotters in white
Bolton were one of the twelve founders of the Football League in 1888, and they have played in white for most of the time since. Here are Trotters shirts from the late 80s to now: home and away kits, keeper shirts, match issue pieces and training gear.
Burnden Park to the Reebok
Bolton left Burnden Park in 1997 for a new stadium named after their kit supplier. Reebok made the shirt for many years, so the brand was on the stand and the shirt at the same time. Under Sam Allardyce in the 2000s Bolton became a stubborn Premier League side that twice made it into the UEFA Cup. Fans who stood at Burnden will tell you the old ground had more noise, but the Reebok years brought the best football in decades.
Okocha and the Allardyce side
Jay-Jay Okocha was the star of that team, and his shirts are the most printed here, from 2001 to 2003. Kevin Nolan and Kevin Davies, two of Allardyce’s most reliable players, are also on the back of shirts. There are match issue shirts from several seasons, including a recent Carabao Cup away shirt.
Away kits and the Macron years
Away shirts outnumber home ones by some distance, so it is a good page for anyone who likes a change kit. adidas made the shirts for a short time before Macron took over in the mid-2010s, and Macron training wear is plentiful.
Check before buying
Reebok shirts from the 90s are roomy, and match issue shirts may have small marks from use. Every listing shows size and condition, so you know how worn a shirt is before you order.
