Porto retro shirts: blue and white stripes – page 3
Porto’s blue and white stripes have been seen in more European finals than most clubs from bigger leagues, and they still look sharp on a British terrace. Below are Porto shirts from the early 1990s to now: home, away and third kits, goalkeeper tops and shirts printed for players who went on to bigger stages.
Vienna, Gelsenkirchen and the Dragão
Porto first won the European Cup in 1987, beating Bayern Munich in Vienna. The second came in 2004 under Jose Mourinho, a year after his side had won the UEFA Cup. The club moved from the old Estadio das Antas to the Estadio do Dragao in late 2003, in the middle of that Champions League run. Every shirt from those years is tied to the story of a club that keeps beating bigger budgets.
Early 90s classics
The collection starts with home shirts from 1990-92, broad stripes and boxy fits typical of the era. Away shirts from the late 90s follow, along with a run of 2000s kits. New Balance has made the shirt since the mid-2010s, and its kits make up a good share of the recent stock, alongside shirts from the Warrior and Nike years before that.
A finishing school on the back
Porto sell their stars on, and the printed shirts read like a list of departures. There are home shirts for Pepe and Eder Militao from 2018-19, and a James Rodriguez home shirt from 2012-13, before his move to Monaco. More recent prints include Varela and Samu.
Slim Portuguese cuts
Portuguese club shirts often run slim, especially the recent ones, so check the measurements if you are between sizes. Older shirts from the 90s are looser and sit well over a T-shirt. Each listing shows the condition score, from well worn to brand new with tags.
