RB Leipzig were founded in 2009, when Red Bull bought the playing rights of fifth-tier SSV Markranstädt intending to reach the Bundesliga within eight years. They began in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd, climbed through successive promotions and came up for 2015-16, then qualified for the Champions League in that first top-flight season after finishing runners-up. There is therefore no retro Leipzig in the usual sense: the oldest items here are from 2012-13, and of about 115 listings 50 fall in the 2010s and 64 in the 2020s.
Two details place a Leipzig shirt quickly. adidas supplied the kit from 2009 to 2014, when Nike took over, so adidas branding means the lower-league years. The crest changed at the same time: every design proposed in 2009 was rejected by the Saxony association, so the 2009-10 side played with no crest at all; a revised badge was accepted in May 2010 and used until the end of 2013-14, when the German league rejected it during licensing for 2014-15 and the club introduced the current version.
Home shirts number 34, away 18 and third seven, with 15 training tops, six track jackets, three polo shirts and three sweat tops. Five staff-issue and five player-issue items appear, along with five match-issue shirts, youth and women’s pieces, and three Puma pre-match tops among the Nike kit. Condition is unusually fresh for this site: 39 items are new with tags and 20 are graded 10/10. Prices run from 12 pounds to 210, with the middle near 48.
