Birmingham City retro shirts: the Blues of St Andrew's – page 5
Birmingham City’s royal blue has been worn at St Andrew’s since long before the Premier League, and the Bluenoses have stuck with it through good times and bad. This page lists Blues shirts from the early 1990s to recent seasons: home and away kits, keeper tops and printed shirts.
2011 and the League Cup
The biggest day in modern Blues history came at Wembley in 2011, when Obafemi Martins scored late to beat Arsenal 2-1 in the League Cup final. The club were relegated a few months later. Shirts from that period sit next to kits from the Second City derby years with Aston Villa. St Andrew’s has been the club’s home since 1906, and its terraces have seen every shade of royal blue on this page.
A 90s collection
The 1990s are the strongest decade here. Home and away shirts from 1993 to 1997 come in numbers, many of them Pony and Diadora designs with the bold collars and patterns of the time. adidas and Nike shirts cover the 2010s and 2020s.
Larsson and Capaldi
Seb Larsson, the Swedish midfielder who scored free kicks for fun at St Andrew’s, has home and away shirts from 2008-10. Tony Capaldi’s match issue shirts from 2000-02 are a rarer find. Other names include Robbie Savage and Matthew Upson, plus a small number of training tops for those who prefer a plainer look.
Generous 90s shirts
Shirts from the 90s come up large and long, which suits the baggy look many fans want with jeans. Recent shirts are slimmer. Size and condition are on every listing, so you can see what you are getting before you buy.
